Kingsbrook Accounting and Tax Services Limited is owned and operated by Ewan Tracey. Ewan was born in Northamponshire and has (apart from attending University) lived in Corby for his whole life. Ewan attended Brooke Weston City Technology College. Ewan graduated with a degree in Accounting and Marketing from De Montfort University and moved straight into a Chartered Accountant training contract with Moore Stephens East Midlands in 2002.
Progressing through his exams he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 and was awarded a prize for his performance in the final examinations of this year (https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/exam-results-sum-up-top-student-1-882791). Following this he moved onto management roles in industry and was an owner and director of a £3m t/o logistics company.
In 2009 Ewan formed Allfields Accounting and Training Limited to carry out sub-contract work for a local accounting practice, P D Tracey and Company Limited, and move into the field of teaching. From here he began teaching undergraduate accounting programmes in London and Birmingham and was appointed Head of Accounting programmes at QA Higher Education in 2011. In 2013 he moved to the University of Northampton as Subject Leader for Accounting, Finance and Banking programmes, all while maintaining his associate accountant role at P D Tracey and Company.
His work at Northampton has seen him give lectures in the UK, Ghana, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China, as well as delivering guest lectures at both the UN in Singapore and UK Parliament. It was during this period that he completed a Post Graduate diploma in Management Studies, and his MBA. Since then Ewan has completed courses at Harvard and Yale universities, and is currently in the final stages of completing a doctorate in International Education with Teeside University.
Ewan is an Executive committee member on the British Accounting and Finance Associations committee for departments of Accounting and Finance, and has acted as an external examiner for University of Ulster, New Bucks Uni, Derby University, Cumbria University and University of Hertfordshire.
In 2017 Ewan stepped down from his role of Subject Lead in Accounting and Finance to become Senior Lecturer in Financial Accounting and Taxation. This has allowed Ewan to devote more time to his practice work and his hobbies of playing music, golf and pool.
Ewan holds a practising certificate from the Institute of Financial Accountants, where he is qualified as a financial accountant and tax advisor. The IFA acts as the anti-money laundering supervisory body for Ewan's professional activities. It is his intention to be able to offer professional expert advice and assistance to SME's and sole trader organisations.
Outside of work sport has played a major role in Ewan's life, cricket and pool took up big parts of his life. He is a qualified ECB cricket coach and as well as playing cricket for Great Oakley Cricket Club during his playing days, he also coached and managed their youth teams. He has been an active member of Great Oakley on both playing and administration/management sides for the past 28 years.
Since stopping playing competitive cricket in 2003 Ewan focused on pool, he played in teams which won many league and cup titles and played for the Corby Town Pool League select team for 3 years, during this time Corby won 2 County Interleague titles and he played for the team in the 2007 national championship finals. Since returning to pool in 2018 he is again playing for Corby and recently made it to the national qualifying rounds of the World Masters Championships.
Outside of his sporting activities Ewan's time is usually spent with his wife and Boxer dog, or trying on his quest to become a single figure handicap glofer (currently off 12) .
